What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the practice of learning to become more aware of the present moment. It helps you notice your thoughts, feelings and surroundings without becoming overwhelmed by them.

Many people find themselves caught up worrying about the future or replaying events from the past. Mindfulness helps you gently bring your attention back to the present, allowing you to experience moments with greater clarity, calm and balance.

Through regular practice, mindfulness can help people:

  • Reduce feelings of stress and anxiety
  • Improve emotional wellbeing
  • Develop greater calm and relaxation
  • Improve focus and clarity
  • Feel more present in daily life
  • Support overall wellbeing during and after cancer treatment

About the iCan Mindfulness Programme

The iCan Mindfulness Programme is a 5-week online course, with weekly 60-minute sessions delivered in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Each session introduces simple, practical mindfulness tools and techniques that you can use in everyday life. The sessions are suitable for beginners and no previous mindfulness experience is required.

Participants are encouraged to practise techniques between sessions so they can gradually build mindfulness into their daily routines.

The programme is designed to help you:

  • Develop mindfulness skills at your own pace
  • Learn techniques to manage stress and anxiety
  • Improve relaxation and emotional balance
  • Feel more present and connected in everyday life
  • Build tools that support long-term wellbeing

Who Can Join?

The programme is open to anyone living with or beyond cancer, at any stage of their diagnosis or recovery journey.

Whether you have recently been diagnosed, are currently undergoing treatment, or are adjusting to life after treatment, mindfulness can provide valuable support for your mental and emotional wellbeing.

Because the programme is delivered online, participants can join from Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, Powys, Mid Wales or anywhere across the UK.

Your Mindfulness Practitioner

The programme is delivered by Kelly MacDonald, a qualified mindfulness practitioner approved by the British Psychological Society.

Kelly is passionate about helping people develop mindfulness skills that can positively impact their everyday lives. Through the iCan programme, she supports participants in learning practical techniques that promote calm, awareness and emotional wellbeing.
